Lingfield Park Golf Clubhouse

Location | Lingfield

Client | Private
Status | Planning 2022

Contract | Undisclosed

HBA have designed a new earth-sheltered clubhouse for Lingfield Park Golf Course and submitted it for planning.

The new building is single storey and is highly permeable in terms of circulation, with the main entrance at the north side, closest to the pedestrian route from the car park.

A players’ entrance is located on the opposite, south, side which is closest to the 18th green. The internal plan provides a pro shop and small office close to the main entrance. The changing rooms are close to the south entrance. The central part of the building provides the bar and restaurant, with opening glazed doors to the east and west, which allow access to the adjoining terrace areas. The capacity of the central bar/restaurant is approximately 50 – 60no. served by a small kitchen.

The building will be covered by an earth mound with limited parts of the facades left open to allow access at each of the entrances.

These will be framed by timber cladding which will add further to the natural, organic character of the building. The earth mound will cover all four corners of the building, sloping up to above the roof level.

The overall effect is to mould the building into the landscape of the golf course. Perimeter planting, at the edges of the grass mound, will include shrubs and perennials with species selection being similar to that found at other parts of the golf course.
